Nicholas Fudge is particularly influenced by Marcel Duchamp's concepts of 'delay' and ‘low-output’ as a means to create rarity in a body of work. Taking a cue from Duchamp, Fudge spent 25 years 'underground,' keeping his digital works in storage from 1992 to 2015 before making them publicly available. This approach empowered Fudge to maintain control over the style, development, and conceptual structures of his work that is free from market influences and results in a collection of digital and analogue works that remain private, rarely seen, and that steadily preserve their intrinsic value over time.
